The song that I have a lyric appreciation for is Brain Damage by Pink Floyd. The lines in the song that leave me with a thought provoking feeling is "you lock the door and throw away the key, there is someone in my head but its not me." The meaning of this is that he is going insane. There is someone in his head that can not come out. He tries to get rid of it but he can't. He can not control what he is doing. Whatever is in his head is controlling him. This is the song that I have a lyric appreciation for.

Hotel California is a song that leaves me wondering every time I listen to it. when I first herd it I actively thought it was a bout a concentration camp but then soon realised it wasn’t. the song is actually an allegory for the greed in the music industry in the late 70's. the line "you can check out any time you like but you may never leave." means that you can stop writing music whenever you like but you cant leave fame and live a normal life. there is a famous mistake in the lyrics were he seas "pleas bring me my wine He said We haven't had that spirit here since 1969." wine is not a spirit but it was actual a metaphor fore a sociopolitical statement.

A song that I have appreciation for is "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd. This song is about Roger "Syd" Barrett the old lead guitarist and singer of Pink Floyd. Roger Developed schizophrenia and he was no longer the great friend he used to be of Pink Floyd. Syd was so messed up that it was like he was no longer around or in reality. This song is explaining that Pink Floyd wanted their old friend back, not the new Syd. One line "And did they get you to trade, your heroes for ghosts?" is a good example of how it was like Syd wasn't even part of reality any more. This line means Syd would look back at ghosts of the the past instead of being inspired by the heroes of the present. The line is also a rhetorical question. Syd became like this as a result of ACID, not heroin.

A song that I have lyrical appreciation for is, "Time of Our Lives", by Paul Van Dyk. When I listen to this song, it leaves me with a greater appreciation of living life with purpose. "There is a time for mis-believing, there's a time to understand, a time for hurt, a time for healing, a time you run, to make a stand" (Paul Van Dyk). This is exactly that, He is explaining that there is a time for everything to happen, and yet there is not enough time. You should live while you have life, and use your lifetime wisely. He uses repetition when the word time is repeated in every line for emphasis on the true meaning of the song, "there's a time for...". When I turn off my I- pod I leave with a feeling of happiness, this song provokes it, and I have an extreme appreciation for its lyrics.

The song I have the most appreciation for is "If I Die Young" by the Band Perry. When I listen to this song I cherish what I have even more than I already do. I think about all those people who have lost their lives at such a young age. When each word is sung I think of things that I have been blessed with. I take the time to think of all the children who are fighting for their lives. The song discusses all the things that the artist would want if she died young. All of her favorite things in life would be what she would want. Roses, satin, pearls and to be set down in a river at dawn are a few things that are mentioned in the song. She uses imagery to display her own rendition of how she imagines her funeral. This song is sad but makes you appreciate everything more than you ever did before.

A song I have appreciation for is the song "Counting Stars" by One Republic. This song inspires me to be successful in life, and that even when things first aren't going great, you can still become successful later in life. The line "Said no more counting dollars, we'll be counting stars' really speaks out to me." really meant something because, it showed how Ryan Fedder, the writer of this song, was going through a financial crisis. He said he wrote this line so, because when him and his wife relationship began he told her eventually that they would be able burn money, and never have to worry about bills. They would just have to watch the starts. A literary device the writer of the song used was imagery. You could picture two people burning money, and sinking it deep in a river. You can tell how that can also mean that they were successful enough to just be able to burn there money.

A song that I have a lyrical appreciations for is Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore. In the song she sings, Well 'you've built up a world of magic because your real life is tragic...' This lyric left me thinking of what she could possibly mean by that. The more thought I put into it the more I realized it's about how reality is harsh/ tragic, and usually at a time like this you make up a fairytale of how you want your life to be. Then later on she says ' if its not real you can't hold it in your hand, you can't feel it in your heart, and I wont believe it, but if its true, you can see it with your eyes, oh even in the dark.' This made me think of how when you have some sort of fairytale or dream its not real, you can't see it or feel it. But reality is something that's there to hit you in the face. After I listen to this song, it leaves me thinking of my life and how there's a fine line between my reality and my fairytale. Although, my fairytale is sometimes better than my reality, its not real. So after listening to this song I get some sort of motivation to make my reality good enough, so I don't have make up a non-existent fairytale to be content with my life.

A song with lyrics that I have an appreciation for is 'Oh Darling' by plug in stereo. This song is about a boy trying to get a girl to give him a chance by treating her very well. Most songs now are about guys mistreating girls to be with them such as drugging them in places like clubs or being a jerk who wants to date a pretty girl. This song shows respect for the girl he likes. The lyrics are "I'm the kinda fellow that'll make you feel better when you life gets shook, so give it a chance according to your plans I bet I'm not number on your list to kiss but please understand". The boy here is asking for a chance for this girl telling her he knows that he isn't the popular kid that she probably had a crush on but he will treat her better then a guy with good looks. He is also considerate stating he will help her when she is sad referring to "when your life gets shook" showing he cares about her and likes her personality and not just because of how she is pretty. The lyricist uses shook to represent if something is wrong he will suppourt her, shook mean to be shaken or a situation with complications and difficulties. Shook is used to show that the boy will help her through complications or difficult times in her life and not leave her. Shook is stronger than saying when she is sad he will be there for her.

One song that I have a very deep lyrical appreciation for is "The Show Must Go On" by Queen. Not only is it an amazing song, but it also has a very deep message behind it, and it shows great use of literary devices. This song is about Freddie Mercury, the lead singer for the band, trying to continue on with his life despite being seriously ill with AIDS. In the song it says, "Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking, but my smile still stays on." This line shows that although he may be really hurt inside, he is still putting on smile for the crowd. This song is one of my all time favorites, and it has a lot of great figurative language, which makes it even better. It is definitely one of the best songs I have ever heard, and it has some of the most amazing lyrics I have heard.

The one song that I love the lyrics to us the song Chicken Fried by the Zac Brown Band. It talks about both chicken and the army. It says to the army that when we defend our country that we get to do things in the United States. Like rat fried chicken. It is a really good country song. Even though I am not a big country guy I am still a big fan of this song because of what it says.

A song that I have lyrical appreciation for is Sweet Disposition, by The Temper Trap. This song leaves me with the feeling of how important is to live your life and enjoy everything that happens in it, the good and the bad. The song also makes you realize that the teen age years and your younger years in general are an important time for getting out and taking advantage of your life and enjoying all the small things in life. Some of the lyrics that i feel express this are " A moment, a love, a dream aloud. A kiss, a cry, our rights, our wrongs". These are all things that you experience in life that hold meaning to you as you get older. You remember all the good moments of your life such as the first time you kissed someone and all the dreams you've had. You also think of all the right and wrong things you've done and all the times you've laughed and cry. That is why I appreciate the song and the meaning that it gives me to go out and make things happen because its only going to be a memory one day.

The song that I have a lyrical appreciation for is Mountain Time by Joe Bonamassa. This particular song impresses me because of the amazing guitar riffs and words put together to give that special lyrical feel to it. This song gives me that emotional provoking feeling while listening to it because when Joe talks about the girl bringing him to that special place that makes him happy, it makes me quite happy. When he sings:

“Now I hate the city and I love the country
And I love that feeling on that mountain high
And that girl is waiting, but she won’t wait too long
So I drive all night to that clear blue sky”

This means that when in the city he is miserable and in the country is where he would rather be. When he’s up on the mountain it gives him the natural high of being with this girl he cherishes in his heart. He will spend most of his time in life looking for that special girl or place to have that great feeling. I sometimes have this feeling that Joe has. I am looking for that special person/place that will bring me to a natural high of comfort. I believe that in this song Joe uses literary devices such as pathos. He talks about how getting to the mountain will bring him happiness because there is a sweet girl there. He also uses his senses to describe the feeling of anticipation for getting to Mountain Time, such as feel and taste. Joe Bonamassa drives the meaning to the point of love and passion by great word choice relating to love and imagery to show what it’s like to be on the mountain and have the feeling of love with his girl. Great song!

A song that I have lyrical appreciation for is Forever and Always by Parachute. The whole song is very emotional and is a story being told about a woman whose fiancé tragically dies. While listening to this song many emotions and thoughts are being provoked; "A voice said something's happened // You should come right now" is he going to be ok?, and, "She finishes the vows, but the beeps are getting too slow" at this point of the song you can feel the pain and devastation as if you are that woman who just lost the love of her life. This song reminds me to be kind to others and to always live my life happily to the greatest of my abilities. One day I could lose someone very dear to my heart or I could suddenly die, but at least I would know they died with our relationship ending on a good note or myself dying happy just like the man in the song who got to marry his fiancé seconds before he passed. The artist uses multiple literary devices such as imagery which was used throughout the song to paint the picture in your mind of what was going on instead of directly stating it. For example these lines, "She thinks of when he asked her // He bent down on his knees first", obviously mean he is purposing to her, but they don't actually tell you that directly. Except some stanzas it is the opposite, the artists tell you directly what is happening. For instance in the third stanza he sings, "She pulls up to the entrance // She walks right to the front desk // They lead her down a million halls, a maze that's never ending // They talk about what happened but she can barely hear them // She tries to keep a straight face as she walks into the room // She sits by his bedside, holds his hand too tight", to make you feel empathetic and emotionally connected to this character.

A song I have lyrical appreciation is Poetic Justice by Kendrick Lamar. The song holds many metaphors and similes. The song discusses how a young kid is having second thoughts about his relationship and he has many questions for the girl he is seeing. He is trying to find out her emotions and thought process, I can infer this because one verse says " If a flower bloomed in a dark room would you trust it ". This is significant because a flower needs light, water, and love. It cant grow without those 3 essential pieces and if the girl he is singing about does trust a flower that bloomed in a dark room she isnt the one for him. This is because a flower with no light that can grow is not from the earth, it isnt pure, Kendrick Lamar is looking for a pure women. Therefore, I show lyrical appreciation to the song Poetic Justice written by the rapper Kendrick Lamar.

The song that i am thinking of.. is "let her go" by passenger.. its a song about the highs and lows of life.. Well you only need the light when it's burning low
"Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go"

i feel there is so much inspiration in this song.. just makes you think about all the things that you take for granted in your life every day.. you friends.. family.. food.. the Sun!! haha i mean today was pretty foggy and sad out.. kinda makes you wish the sun was out and cheery and the birds were bumping.. on any other day you might not take the second to be thankful for what is out and around you.. stuff you have every day,, you don't know what you have until its gone and this song really shows that.. also just love the song its self. brings the vibes every time its on… <3
