Teens have less responsibility these days. Back in the 1700s and even early 1800s, children were expected to help tend to the farm and provide for the family from an early age. They were responsible for many tasks that were vital to the success and well-being of their families. In modern times however, this is not an issue. As most kids don't live on farms, they do not have to tend to anything. Most don't even get jobs until high school. These jobs, unlike tending to a farm, are not required for the well-being of the family, they are minor tasks such as bagging groceries at stop and shop. Also, unlike farm work, they provide the added incentive of being paid for their services. A 16 year old should have a decent amount of responsibility. While they shouldn't be in charge of something major, they also should have some form of responsibility. If they don't, they will find it challenging to adapt to living on their own when that time comes.
Teens have more responsibility today than in the past. The quote by J.K. Rowling says "the moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies with you." This is true in the fact that once teens get their license and are able to drive, they believe they could do whatever they want. But in reality, it really means that they have responsibilities. Once they are able to drive, their parents believe they could make them drive around for them. They have to be careful while driving, and their parents are going to want them to drive places and get things done for them. Today, teens have more responsibility because they are able to drive their siblings around and get groceries for their parents when they could drive. Back in the day, kids couldn't really do all of that because they couldn't afford many cars. Now-a-days, 16 year olds shouldn't have that much responsibility. They are still really young, and shouldn't be expected to go running around because it is dangerous for them. They should have some responsibility because they are able to drive, but they shouldn't be allowed to have too much power in their hands. They are still kids and shouldn't have too much responsibility stressing them out.
I believe young adults in the past had more responsibilities that the young adults of the present age. Technology makes the young adults less responsible. In the past children had to do jobs that machines do for us nowadays. Mom was cleaning the house by hand and dad was at work. 16 year olds were liable to do teedius chores. Now cleaning the dishes only take a quarter of someone's time compared to the past. Also kids didn't have technology to take up time. Children would have nothing to do so they would do chores to occupy their time. A 16 year old today should help clean the house, do yard work, and sacrifice their time to babysit their younger siblings. It was much different in the past. Kids could wander the streets without worrying about getting hijacked by someone. It is much different today which causes 16 years to have different responsibilities.
Today, teens have more responsibility to take on them they did in the past. In our modern age, the "moment" or age that teens are old enough to take the wheel has gotten younger and younger. Teens can be expected to take on great responsibility right at the age of 13 or younger. Today, divorces are much more common in households with children, and more and more teens are finding themselves at the head of the household at a very young age. This can be very tolling trying to juggle a family with school and extra curriculars. I believe that the biggest responsibility of teens is the pressure to make the right decision. 16 is around the age where sex, drugs, and alcohol come into play, teens are pressured to make the right decision which can serve as a breaking point for many. Pressure from school, home, and one's social life can cause one to "break" and not make the ugly decision. Decision manike is definitely a teen's biggest responsibility.
At the age of 16, I believe that teens juggle enough. Responsibilities of take care of oneself, taking care of ones family, school work, social life, beginning to drive, and becoming independent is responsibility enough. Now-a-days teens are already handling so much finding out who they are throughout high school.
Teens have less responsibility today than they did in the past. In the past teens did more work and were expected to be more productive. In today's world, there is better technology, so teens rely on that instead of being productive. In the past, a sixteen year old should have a job and do work. Today a sixteen year old should be responsible for doing all their school work and focus on succeeding in life. A sixteen year old should do this because that way they learn different skills and could use it to progress in adulthood. Teenagers are still learning, so at sixteen they should just focus on maturing into adulthood. At sixteen teenagers learn how to drive, but don't really start driving until they are older. At sixteen, a teenager is capable of learning how to drive, but isn't ready to actually start driving on a day to day basis. In the past a teenager would be held responsible for so much more, but due to society's changes, there is less to be accountable for. Teenagers to day are still responsible for a lot, but in the past they would have needed more responsiblity.
Teens now-a-days have less responsibilitytoday than in the past. In the modern age, technologies like phones, gaming colsoles, and even the internet are widely available to children, given they are provided by their parents. All of the technology that is given to a majority of the you get population is slowly making them lazy and unresponsible. The gaming consoles have no benefits to anybody, except for entertainment and fun with their friends. Kids could spend hours on them if they have no school or do not have a job. They can become used to sitting on a couch, relaxing too much, and not doing anything productive. The internet also makes teens less responsible, instead of reading a book or learning how to do a lesson they were supposed to learn in class, they could find answers online with barely to no effort. Some kids might even take the route with the least time and effort so they can start having fun again. So for teenagers these days they can possibly have less potential than past generations, so I feel they should have the same or more responsibilities, so teenagers will not become couch potatoes when they grow up. I feel that if they do not start adapting to the real world and take responsiblity of their life as a teen, then they will not as an adult. All fun and no work is not a great combination for a young adult.
Teens do have more responsibilities today than in the past. The quote by J.K. Rowling says "...the moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies within you." Rowling not only means the responsibility of driving "take the wheel", but conveys that there is more power one to hold being 16. A 16 year old decides for themselves more now a days rather than back then. Before, teens didn't have curfews and laws established are today because they were not enforced. However, seeing that 16 can still have the option to be irresponsible, laws must be altered in order to keep everyone safe. 16 year old have more responsibilities today simply because teens in the past have screwed up. This quote Rowling says portrays 16 year olds can make their own minds up and steer their own life in their own direction. However, with the decisions you make as a teen can, and mostly likely will, effect you for the rest of your life. Thus explaining even more responsibilities that are put on your shoulders. 16 year old are expected to uphold the idea of a role model for young kids as well. Responsibilities of a teenager can go many ways.
After analyzing this quote, I found that teens have the same amount of responsibilities behind the wheel as in the past. Even though cars are said to be safer nowadays, there are still very dangerous. One example is getting hit by a car. Even though cars haves evolved to be safer for the driver, the person getting hit still has the same chance of being seriously injured or killed. This is connected back to the quote because it's explains that as soon as someone gets behind the wheel of a car, it's becomes their responsibility to keep themselves and other drivers safe on the road. That's why most good drivers are cautious and aware of their surroundings so they can advoid these types things. This responsibility is even more important to teens because is is new to them and they may be inexperienced in driving. Even so, the responsibility of teen driving has not changed that much in recent years since driving also hasn't changed much. Likewise, teens are still getting their licenses around the same age so that is a factor either. All in all, teens do not have more responsibly driving than in the past, since most people drive the same way, and there are still the same risks as in the past.
Think beyond the responsibility of driving - what else are teens responsible for today? Is it more or less than previous generations?
The teenagers of the past had a great deal of responsibility that significantly differs from the responsibility that teens obtain in today's society. The ideals and priorities differed as well, which is most likely the cause for this divide and differentiation of responsibilities. While we focus on making sure our phones are charged and notifying our parents about where we are, the teenagers of the past focused on providing for their family and putting in intense, arduous labor in order to keep their family secure in a time of instability and insecurity. During the time in which the novel was written, people were recovering from a great avalanche of warfare that left the people of the world in a state of severe confusion and unsureness. The fear of Communism flooding the world and the creation of the atomic bomb left people in a state of panic. These factors added a significant amount of weight to the overall load of responsibility that the teenagers of the past had to deal with. Though the period, post-World War 2, was also a time of prosperity because of the GI Bill, teenagers of the past still were given a multitude of tasks and chores to do on top of making sure that they were able to successfully provide for their family and for themselves. The GI Bill primarily gave veterans a chance to get an education and allowed more people to live comfortably, however, it was not the financial state of the country that inflicted responsibility upon the teenagers. It was rather the pressures of the surrounding world that caused for the amount of responsibility they had to grow even larger. Overall, the teenagers of today are in a more comfortable state, and the responsibilities that we are given are less taxing and less draining.
Great response! Good use of historical evidence.
Teens do have more responsibilities today than in the past because they are expected to have a job, go to driving school to receive a driver's permit, and to go to high school. In the past, 16 year olds were expected to carry on the family business or maintain the farm. Nowadays technology has advanced and most 16-year-olds are expected to go to college and begin the cycle of becoming an adult. They are expected to start driving, which is a major responsibility and go to school. Just like an adult, teens are aging and gaining more and more responsibilities that an adult has. A 16 year old should be expected to have some responsibilities, but not too many. There is a boundary of too much responsibility for a teenager. They shall be expected to handle a job, driving school, and a a good education, but that shall be all. There is already enough stress for a 16 year old, they don't need any more responsibilities to stress over at this point in their life. They are beginning one of the biggest turning points in their life where they transition from a kid to and adult. By the age of 18, they don't need a guardian, have a lot more freedom, and go to college. They are all on their own in just two years. They deserve no more than what is already on their plate, because stress may distract them from going to school or work. This could result very badly, where the teen could mature to be a cashier at McDonalds. To prevent 16 year olds from growing up to be a worker at McDonalds, they deserve no more responsibilities than what is listed above.
This shows that teens have the same but enough responsibility as in the past and that they should not be expected to have mugh extra since they are busy enough. High school is difficult enough and sports and a social life just add to that. Teen driving may be the same as in the past, but new drivers will be fine as long as they are careful and follow the rules of the road.
In the 21st century, teens have a lot less responsibility than they did in the past. Today's society happens at the speed of lightning with computers and machines doing a lot for humans. Also, teens can be much lazier in their day-to-day lives as their parents are more permissive. Parents of teens in modern day want to be "cool" in the eyes of their children, so they download social media and lay back on some rules so they seem more like a friend to their child than a parent. Even though the laziness of American teenagers has gone up, there is still a level of responsibility that needs to be had. The kids of today are going to be the leaders of one of the world's biggest powerhouses tomorrow, and they need to understand the stress that comes with that. Teenagers should have jobs and chores at home so they can get used to the busy schedule of the modern workplace. Teenagers should have more responsibilities than they actually have in today's society to prepare them for the future.
On the other hand, teenagers of the past had lots of work on their hands. Especially in the times around the Great Depression, children were needed for work around the household, and were sometimes even pulled out of school to do so. Large families were common at this time often so there would be more hands to help with property or in the house, but young children were and still are in need of constant attention and need to be watched so they don't get in the way of the work before they're ready. Older children not only had to responsibility to do their chores but they also had to watch their siblings so their parents could work. This early- America family style required much more responsibility than modern day families.
Great post! Good use of evidence to support your position.
Being a teenager now-a-days is different than being a teenager in the past. Today, teens have a lot of responsibility, whether it be going off to school, helping around the house, or watching over a sibling. In the story "The Catcher In The Rye", it explains that the main character is a 16 year old boy who faces the same challenges as kids today: fears of growing up, insecurity, questioning identity, and fearing becoming an adult (Salinger). Responsibility ties into that by making us recognize how much we are expected to do. In the past teenagers worked and went to school, and sometimes cooked meals for their family. In today's society, not as many kids work full time at 16, while balancing school and they rely on others to watch over family members if they have plans. Children and teens in the past were expected to do certain things and know how to be independent. Teenagers in today's society rely on others and can be really lazy when it comes time to do what they need to do. Sometimes, in today's society, if kids are asked to do something it takes constant reminders, when in the last children were willingly open to help. The behavior of children now, compared to in the past, is different in many ways but responsibility demonstrates how much society has changed.
I think teenagers have more responsibility now than they did in the past. With all this new technology, teenagers have to be extremely cautious about what they put online, because the internet makes it easier for strangers to get access to their personal information. Also, a huge issue with teenagers in today's society is underage drinking and the consumption of drugs. Teenagers need to be responsible enough to know that those things are extremely detrimental to their health, and refuse to take drugs or alcohol no matter what their peers may be doing. Drunk driving and texting while driving also ties into this, because at age 16 teenagers usually start to drive. They need to be responsible about driving because if they are not it could harm them or someone else. All of these reasons plus teenagers having to manage their school life with their social life, puts a lot of responsibility on them. However, I think it is a good amount of responsibility for a teenager. In two years 16 year olds legally become adults and they have to learn how to deal with the responsibility they will have. Also, it prepares teenagers for college and living on their own because they will not have a parent there to help them like they may have had in the past. While teenagers have more responsibility now than in the past, it is a good thing because it prepares them for the future.
Teens these days have less responsibility. This is mainly because their parents can't trust them, with everything like drugs and alcohol becoming more used at a young age, teens have no responsibility. I do believe that in the past teens had more responsibility. Like Will said back in the 1700's, teens were already working full time and getting married at the age of 15. In today's world a normal 16 year old is expected to, at the most, have the responsibility to stay home alone and do minor chores. However, I think part of the less responsibility is caused by education. When a normal 16 year old is going to school 5 days a week and doing 3 hours of homework every day, I don't blame teens for not doing all the work they would do in the 1700's. On the other hand, I think it is very important that teens need to work on this responsibility. In life it is one of the most important things to possess. It is especially important that teens develop responsibility at a young age.
Teens have less responsibility today then they did in the past. In the past, there were many teenagers who had left home, had a job, and were married. Some people have been in wars and written classic novels in their teenage years. In the past people had to grow up fast because families were poor and they needed their sons and daughters to start working as soon as possible. Now-a-days, teens are doing less things and are less responsible. Part of that is because most kids are in school for the majority of their teen years, and can't even drive or get employed until their late teenage years. This causes them the hold off on developing responsibility. Today, a teens main responsibilities are things like mow the lawn and clean your room and do your homework. Since teens do not have major responsibilities they will not become responsible until their twenties. This is the cause of the lack of teen responsibility from today to the past. If teens were able to get employed or go to college at ages 12 or 13 then they would become responsible quicker and spend their teen years making a difference in the world.
While at home responsibilities have gotten a lot easier from the past, school's expect much more from students than they did a decade ago. Colleges are more difficult to get into and the process is just much more complicated with distributing scholarships. So I say that in some aspects responsibility has decreased and in some it has greatly increased. Teenagers in the 21st century are working in restaurants or stores while in the past they could've been working in coal mines or factories to support their family's. Child labor has greatly increased over the years, but back then it wasn't on top of the government's policy agenda, so kids and teenagers had a lot more responsibility when it came to working and jobs. School is a very different situation where the responsibility has increased greatly. Back then children were supposedly "seen but not heard," nowadays both teachers and parents expect so much more from us teenagers as new knowledge and teaching strategies continues to be discovered. Depending on the student and the classes they're taking, students have so much more responsibility then they did a decade ago. Colleges are more expensive, so teenagers have to work harder for scholarships and to come across the money to get the education they've worked so hard for. Therefor, I believe in some aspects, responsibility has increased and decreased in teenagers.
Teens have less responsibility today than they did in the past. Back then, teens were expected to do tasks teens today wouldn't ever imagine doing. In various history-based books and movies, teens had to care for the entire family, hunt for food, or even milk a cow for milk. They had no other choice, as it was a normal lifestyle with this amount of responsibility in their hands. The structure of a family itself was up to the younger generation to learn how to handle. Because of this, they were taught to deal with the hardships of not having someone else do their work for them. If their parents weren't home, it was the teen’s job to do what was necessary to keep themselves and others stable. In contrast to teens in the past, 16 year olds now do not have the same responsibilities to uphold. They are expected to clean their room, do their homework, and retain the daily schedule of chores. This doesn't compare to the tasks teens of the past had to do because teens today are most likely financially stable because that is considered the “parent's job” and teens don't have to worry about it. The change in society of how money is more common to have now changes the responsibilities of a teen and how hard they have to work for what they want. The parents usually hold the responsibility of keeping the family stable, while 16 year olds worry about themselves and their own personal future. They are more likley to be handed a reward, rather than earning it, which shows the less amount of responsibility they need to get what they want.
Teens now a days have more responsibilities than in the past. Now that there is more technology teens must be responsible in what they do. With social media teens has to be responsible in what they post or it will come to haunt them in the future. In the past social media was not as popular as it is today. Back in the day children would have to help their parent if they had a farm or they would have to work at an early age, whereas now a days children are driving with no need to work. A 16 year old has to be really responsible. When a child turns 16 years old they are able to get their permit. They have to know the safety of driving and what to do and what not to do. They have to be responsible enough to know they their life and others life are in their hand while driving. In the past people couldn't really afford car. A 16 year old in the past didn't have to worry about driving because their parents would take them to where ever they need to be.
I think teens have less responsibility today than in the past. In the past they had to help around the house and do manual work. Some lived on farms so they had to help take care of the livestock and tend the crops. They didn't have the technology that we have now so it took much longer to do everything. However, the teens of today rely on the amount of technology that we have. It's so much easier to clean the house with all the new appliances that we have. Instead of having to live on a farm you can just drive to the grocery store to get your food. By not having as much responsibility as a teen, it will be harder for them to adjust when they are living on their own. They won't know what it actually feels like to have to take care of themselves and not be able to rely on their parents. A 16 year old now-a-days should have some responsibility. They need to develop skills to take care of themselves before they go out into the real world without their parents. Teens should be able to clean up after themselves and cook food without needing help from an adult. However, they shouldn't have too much responsibility because they are still kids and shouldn't be incharge of something major. They could get stressed out if they have too much responsibility at such a young age. It's hard for teens to take on the amount of responsibility that they should because of all the technology that we have been around.
I believe students have more responsibility than in the past. In today's society, competition is one of the biggest factors to keep students motivated. Whether it be in athletics or academics, teenagers feel pressure to do good so they are in agreement with their peers. There is a heavy weight on student's shoulders to get into a good college and pursue their career. With more and more parents getting a divorce, teenagers have more responsibility as the older child. A single parent will need more help raising children, taking care of a house, and keeping everyone healthy. The older child needs to learn how to cope with only one parent and teach their young siblings the good morals of life. Everyday kids have to grow up in a society influenced by alcohol. Students are getting taught about the consequences of alcohol in every aspect, either from their parents or teachers. Drinking and driving is one of the most concerned topics with our generation. When people don't have control over their body, anything can happen. Teens have to make good decisions and be responsible in order to stay safe. Nowadays, 16 year olds should have a good concept of what responsibility is. When people turn 16, they are most excited to get their permit. However, some parents only agree to that if you show enough maturity. Having parents who push you harder and harder each day will leave an impact on their children's lives. By the age of 16, teens will know how to save money, cook their own meal, and get their day started by themselves.
Teens have a more responsibilities today than in the past. A lot more is expected of teens now. Most of us have very busy schedules to keep up with. We have to juggle school work, sports/ activities, and a social life. Life can get a little stressful when adults add more and more responsibilities to our daily schedules. Today, parents expect straight A’s, and will get upset if their child gets anything less than an A. School is a huge responsibility that comes with many sacrifices like after school activities and sports. There is so much work given out by teachers now. It’s almost like some don’t realize that we have more than one class and most of us play a sport. The amount of homework I receive in some of my classes, takes me longer to do than a regular school day. I get hours of homework in some classes which causes me to get to bed extremely late. A 16 year old should be expected to do their own homework, by themselves. Also, they should be able to somewhat take care of themselves without assistance from an adult or a parent. We don’t need parents hanging over our shoulders like we’re five or six years old. Most teens can be very responsible when it comes to school and daily activities. There are, however, the ones who don’t care about anything and shouldn’t be trusted with certain responsibilities. The amount of responsibilities that a teen should have should be up to their parents.
Teens now a days have less responsibility than teens who lived in the past. Teens now have very little responsibility, some of these responsibilities could be doing the dishes, folddinf laundry, cleaning your room, getting yourself ready for school, and so on. 16 year old teens now a days should be expected to keep their room clean, take care of any pets they have, do their homework everyday, and whatever chore their parents tell them to do. But teens in the past had a lot more responsibility this is shown in the chores they had to do. The chores rhey had to do then were a lot more difficult and took up most of their time. For example, milking a cow, harvesting the garden for food, cleaning all the clothes, making dinner, yard work, and just difficult tasks in general. This is because teens in the past had to know.all these things because they needs to know how to fend for themselves and supply for their family. All in all teens in the past had a lot more responsibility than teens in the present day.
Teens have a lot less responsibility than in the past. In the past almost all 13 year olds had a job. Many had to work on farms and worked all day for no money. Today teens get jobs around 16. And even then it is usually a part time job. A 16 year old's responsabilites today include going to school, maybe working at a job, and getting a permit to drive. Many teens need to be very responsabilites when they drive which teens were not responsible for in the past, but still,a 16 year old in the past would have many more responsabilites.
Teens seem to have more responsibility than the teens in the past. However, it genuinely comes down to what kind of a person a teen might be. It’s obvious that kids are really forced to grow up faster in the 21st century, which leads to a gaining of responsibility. Especially with the violent world that teens are exposed to, all teens have to learn right from wrong in a more “grown up” way, which helps teens gain responsibility. Besides from that, a 16-year-old should not be given too much responsibility. Teens don’t know the world yet, and most of the time when a parent or guardian gives them responsibility, it goes to their head, and they believe they can do just about anything. On the other hand, teens are a lot smarter than some people like to believe. They shouldn’t be treated like young children, because that’s not what they are. A little bit of responsibility is appropriate for teens every once-in-awhile. But all in all, the amount of responsibility that teens have and should have really depends on the kind of person they are/how they act.
After reading the quote I agree with it. I believe that when people show a great sign of maturity at any age that they are able to take the wheel along with the responsibilities. Generally speaking i believe that most teens today have more responsibilities then they did in the past. With rapidly advancing technology teens are able to be more involved in different things and our technology also allows schools to branch out into the internet, such as the wonderful platform that we are using right now to write this blog. I think a 16 year old depending on their behavior should have a lot of responsibility so long as they show they are responsible. People all become responsible at different ages. One kid could act way older than he is and that has everything to do with environment. If a child is babied their whole life when they are a teenager they won't be able to do anything for themselves. If a child is taught to do things on their own and given a guidance than they become more independent and are able to take on more responsibilities. A well balance of guidance and chances to be independent will ensure a responsible teenager. So a teenager should be given as many responsibilities as they can handle.
Teens in today's world carry around more responsibilty than ever before. Although they are less likely to be doing the chores that teens in the past had to do such as working farms, technology and new aspects of society create more responsibilities for modern day teens. For example, the invention of social media sites like Facebook and Instagram have opened up a whole new area of society which demands responsible behavior. Teens have to use their accounts carefully, making sure that they do not post anything that could hurt themselves or others. In addition to the high level of responsibility that must be used online, teens also need to use good decision making skills in their everyday encounters. They are often pressured by their peers to make negative decisions like drinking or doing drugs. Obviously, it is not easy for them to risk their reputation in order to make the best choice, but teens know that this is a responsibilty they hold. Lastly, they have high expectations in and out of school. It is their responsibilty to get good grades and participate in society enough so that they can get into the college of their choice. This also requires them to get jobs and be responsible for paying for their own expenses. Therefore, with rising expectations for teens in almost all aspects of society, they have been forced to take on more and more responsibilities as years have gone by.
These days, a responsible sixteen-year-old is expected to be going to school for around seven hours each week day, doing homework for perhaps an hour or two each day, and of course, find work. These days, a sixteen-year-old's troubles are compounded by the introduction of online learning resources that really only a means to receive homework before the next class period. Now, to me, that sounds like a busy schedule with a lot of stress that comes with it. On top of all that, at the back of each teen's mind, we're all worried about getting into college and paying off the education's price all the way into retirement. A sixteen-year-old's life in the year 2016 is a burdened one, and we are in an awkward transition from being childish to being a full adult. It used to be that a sixteen-year-old could go work a manufacturing job into retirement and live comfortably, but this is no longer the case. We are told to enjoy our childhood, but we are also told to study in place of having fun. The amount of responsibility sixteen-year-olds do have greatly exceeds what should be expected of someone that age. These are people that stay up into the wee hours of the morning (2:00, 3:00 A.M.) when they prepare to leave home for school at 6:00 A.M. just because of homework. Then we are labelled slackers if we don't feel like getting only an hour of sleep. The fact is, sixteen-year-olds are still just kids. We want to work and then go do sports or work, and not have to worry about excessive workloads due before the next class, just because a teacher can assign it to be so. Students have gotten by fine in the past without this extravagant busy work, and so I see no reason to ruin it. Make life simpler for students with less projects and homework, so that they may better focus on concepts rather than completion.
I happen to believe that teens today have more responsibility today than they did in the past. This goes for one reason really, and that is technology. Yes, there has always been some kind of technology involved in teen life, but nothing like the way things are today. For instance, teenagers need to be extremely careful about what it is they put online. People think that just because their Twitter account is on private that nobody is capable of accessing their information. The truth is, there are always hackers out there with skills to hack just about anybody they feel necessary. So, teens need to be extra careful about what they put on social media and keep in mind that once it is uploaded to the internet, it is always accessible. Also, technology is used nearly everyday in school. For instance, nowadays we have Google Classroom, a system used to upload classwork/homework through the computer as opposed to doing it in person. This no longer allows for students to simply skip school because they forgot their essay was due the next day. Now, with the use of Google Classroom, there is no excuse for being late, which only adds to the responsibilities of a modern teen. Obviously teens of the past have also had responsibilities of their own, however nothing quite like the teenagers today are faced with.
Children had less responsibility back then, the main reason for the is the advancements in technology as time goes on. Back in the 17th and 18th centuries the children had forms of education but the main reason was so that they just had basic knowledge of the world around them and they didn't have as many future life dissections to worry about which in turn meant that they had less responsibilities. The children currently have many expectations to be held up to as such to get good grades to get into a good college so that they can get a good job. Since your job is your life from a child that is a lot of responsibility. With that in mid 16 year old kids for the most part are very responsible. The reason being they have many years under there belt and they are starting to become young adults. since they are also getting a drivers since that is a whole other set of responsoblility that the 16 year old must encompass.
