1.   Penury - (n) extreme poverty; destitution
2.   Waiflike - (adj) anything found, or without an owner; apparently homeless
3. Surreptitiously (adv): in a stealthy, well-hidden, or secretive manner usually referring to movement
4. Billet (v): to lodge soldiers in a private house; 
              (n): an official order directing that a member of a military force be provided with board and lodging
5. Surreal (adj) - resembling a dream; unreal; fantastic
6. Partisan (n): passionate, sometimes militant, supporters or proponents of a party, cause, faction, person, or idea
 
7. Inhibition (n): something that restrains, blocks, or suppresses
8. Irrevocable (adj): not to be revoked or recalled; unable to be repealed    
9.  Harangue (v): give a forceful and lengthy lecture or criticism to someone
10.  Ascertain (v): to find out; to discover or establish
